Seagate in collaboration with Asus and Gigabyte are now marketing Serial ATA 6Gbit/s complete solutions. The company has started shipping out the Barracuda XT drive that functions at an intense SATA 6Gbit/s. The 3.5” desktop drive, a 7200RPM invention has 2TB of storage space. It is the first of its kind to incorporate a SATA 6Gbit/s interface.
Barracuda XT seems to have upped the mark for desktop speed. The drive has the ability to meet gaming, video-environment and other desktop application demands. In addition to the speed, the storage bandwidth is supposedly twice that of existing PCs. With a four-platter drive and an areal density of 368GB/inch² the product is expected to reach speeds of 6GB/s for any computing application.
